…Will the USMNT FIFA ‘22 rating increase from last year? …How highly rated is Christian Pulisic in FIFA ‘22? …What is Ricard Pepi’s rating?
These were only a couple of questions that crossed my mind when day-dreaming about the release of FIFA ‘22. Luckily for you…I was able to access the USMNT leaked ratings.
That’s right, State Of Soccer Weekly is bringing you the USMNT FIFA ‘22 rankings early.
So let’s get started.
United States Men’s National Team - FIFA 2021 Rating (Sept. 17, 2021 Ranking)
Before we get started this article would be kind of useless unless we had a baseline for the current USMNT ratings. What you see below is the September 17th, 2021 (most recent) FIFA 2021 ratings according to EA Sports. The roster displayed here is EA Sports USMNT XI according to the past couple of matches, etc.
Overall I don’t have much of an issue with the ratings but the lineup is completely wrong. Below I will not only leak the 2022 USMNT FIFA ratings, but I will also give my preferred lineup at this point in time. The lineup will reflect the current form of each U.S. player with their club, and country.
Considering not all of the ratings have been officially released we will only focus on the overall rating. I will additionally feature 19 more USMNT players or in other words, I will lay out my preferred 30 man roster at this point in time.
So first…let’s start out with my starting XI for the United States.
Below is who I have elected to be in my starting XI based off of recent performances with club & country. Baring any injuries or other barriers to play (traveling/COVID) this is the lineup that I would like to feature with the U.S. takes on Jamaica October 7th, 2021.
So let’s break this down in terms of overall ratings vs. last years rating.
GK: Zack Steffen - Manchester City (+0; 77)
Steffen has has a rough go of it recently. Going into the match against El Salvador the ‘keeper was suffering from back spasms. Only a couple of days later he came down with Covid & had to miss all three qualifier entirely. That being said Zack is the consensus #1 GK for the U.S. His rating of a 77 is the same as last year, but could quickly increase with more playing time for City, or the USMNT.
LCB: John Brooks - Werder Bremen (+0; 78)
John Brooks is a veteran defender. One of the most consistent center backs in the Bundesliga, his rating of a 78 does not come as a surprise. No increase from last season but could easily increase a point or two depending on form.
RCB: Miles Robinson - Atlanta United (+1; 70)
The young center back for the ‘Five Stripes’ has had quite a summer. Scoring the game-winning goal in the Gold Cup Final vs. Mexico, and now a formidable defender in the U.S. lineup, Robinsons rating will increase by +1 in FIFA 22. Remember that anything I say is quite arbitrary (I didn’t create the game) but I feel that at least a 72 is validated for the 24 year old defender.
LB: Antonee Robinson - Fulham F.C. (+0; 73)
Robinson might be one of the most raw talents on the U.S. The left-back just turned 24 years old and has been getting consistent playing time in the Championship following 28 caps’ last season in the Premier League. A player that really stood out to me during the last stage of World Cup Qualifiers, I think a rating increase would be justified. A (+1) or 74 overall seems fair to me.
RB: Sergino Dest - F.C. Barcelona (+1; 76)
Playing for FC Barcelona definitely generates a lot of buzz. For Dest I think the most recent qualifiers could have gone smoother, but it is no question that he might be on e of the most skilled players on the U.S. The rating of a 76 will soon improve if Dest plays consistently well for a struggling FC Barcelona side. I would not be surprised if we see him at a 78 by the end of the season.
CDM: Tyler Adams - Red Bull Leipzig (+0; 77)
It is hard to argue with a no increase for Tyler Adams. Adams has been injured for quite some time and appears now to be getting fit for matches. Since his return he has been tremendous for the USMNT, and Red Bull Leipzig. I sincerely think that had Adams not gotten injured he would be sitting at around an 80 overall (well deserved).
CM: Brenden Aaronson - Red Bull Salzberg (+0; 70)
When it comes to Brenden I think this is the worst rating out of the XI. There is no reason that Aaranson should not be at least a 74 in my opinion. He has continuously improved every year since being an MLS XI in 2019 and I think that anything less than a 72 is just ignorant. The man has been consistently scoring & starting in league play and Champions League matches. Wake up EA Sports.
CM: Weston McKennie - Juventus FC (+0; 77)
There isn’t much to say about Weston right now. I think that all USMNT fans are very disappointed in him, but he needs to be plugged back into the XI. As for his rating I think that at most he deserves a (+2; 79) but I don’t think a 77 is unfair. Very interested to see how he bounces back with the U.S. roster in the next qualifiers.
LW: Christian Pulisic - Chelsea F.C. (+1; 82)
I think that Pulisic is rated fairly. Christian didn’t have the best season last year, but still showed his brilliance at times. Captain America had a good summer with the U.S. and I think he will continue to build off of his improved play with not only the U.S., but also the reigning European Champions.
RW: Giovanni Reyna - Borussia Dortmund (+1; 78)
Considering how much potential Reyna has and the fact that he plays a major role in a potent Dortmund attack, I agree with this rating. Reyna (like Dest, Aaronson, & Adams) could easily find his rating increasing over the next season in FIFA 22. In fact, I don’t think it would be out of line to award his a 79 rating right now but for now…I think a slight increase (+1;78) is fair
ST: Ricardo Pepi - FC Dallas (+4; 64)
If you watched my last episode then you know what I think about Pepi. He should be rated a lot higher but I also am a realist, & growing a rating takes some time. For now a +4 since FIFA 21 is a respectable growth but in reality, I think we might see Pepi jump to a 74 this season in FIFA 22. What do you think?
‘Rounding Out The 30-Man Roster
In an effort to provide you as many leaked U.S. names as possible, let’s round out my preferred 30 man roster.
Below I will group the remaining substitutes/camp players in their collective positions. You will get a glimpse of their 2022 rating, and increases going into FIFA 2022:
GOALKEEPERS (Cards Displayed Below)
DEFENDERS (Cards Displayed Below)
MIDFIELD (Cards Displayed Below)
Kelyn Acosta (Real Salt Lake; +0: 71), Gianluca Busio (Venezia +0; 67), Sebastian Lletget (La Galaxy; +1; 71), Christian Roldan (Seattle Sounders; +0; 75), Julian Green (Greuther Fürth; +1; 71)
FORWARDS (Cards Displayed Below)
Matthew Hoppe (RCD Mallorca; +2: 68), Konrad De La Fuente (Marseille; +4; 68), Jordan Siebatcheu (Young Boys; +1; 72), Josh Sargent (Norwich City; +0; 71), Daryl Dike (Orlando City; +0; 68)
So that does it for my current USMNT XI & 30-man roster.
Thank you so much for tuning into State Of Soccer Weekly.
I will see you all next week…and until next time…
GO USMNT!!
